The Epitome of Determination

A quick personal note-I thought I had somehow cured myself from what seems like a life time of sneezing, and constant sniffling, because it hasn't been this bad in several years. But the last week or two has been a different story. I strongly suggest buying stock in Kleenex and Puffs.

On to something more worthy...

If you haven't stumbled on to the blog "A Deliberate Life" yet, you don't know what you are missing.

Here's a snippet from the latest post by Chris, and the reason for the title of mine:

"When I was in the army, there was this girl named Dora. She was little, and snarky. She would make comments about my weight. So, if she did fifty sit ups, I would do fifty one. If she was in my run group, I would run faster. She was about thirty pounds lighter than me. She couldn't figure out "WHY THAT FAT GIRL KEPT BEATING HER" (her words...lol). Why? because I had made up my mind that there was no way in h*ll that girl was EVER going to beat me. I could be 32 out of 33 and be fine, as long as I came in in front of her. I could be dying, my arms ripped off by a combine and I would still beat her."

You will get to know what Chris is made of if you check her blog and see how the story ends with Dora! This is the stuff movie scripts are made of.

While looking for an image that depicts "Determination", I saw this quote:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
- Marianne Williamson

I like this. But for the record, this is no reflection of my feelings or relationship with Marianne Williamson or God. I just like this quote, a lot.

Wishing you all a week of liberation.

Very inspiring. I know that I found my staying power when I shifted my focus from the dark side to something much more positive. It'll give me something to think on as I get ready to sleep.

I have the "your playing small does not serve the world" on my bulletin board. :)

I hope your sniffly-sneezies are soon a thing of the past, but thanks for the top on the stock. :)

Thank you. I so needed that!! I needed to be reminded that determination can take a person a long ways!! It's not just my diet, but my life right now.

Thank you!

It takes courage to change your life.

A great post and good suggestion for another blog to peak at and loved the poem. I'd love to liberate myself from arm pain and pains in the ass.
With this inspiration, perhaps this is the week.

Thank you for all the kind comments and support. I need them. I really enjoy reading everyone's blogs out here in blog land, people don't always get to express themselves this way, which is a shame. Keep up the good work Patty, I like your optimism.
